Mr. Gould began studying aikido in 1964 and began attending formal classes in 1968 overseas with the Viet Nam Air Force Aikido Association (an early form of aikido based on aikijujutsu) and received his shodan in 1970. From 1972 to 1980, he taught aikido to small groups in Michigan. From 1982 to1980, he was a member of the Sand Drift Aikikai and received his USAF/Aikikai shodan in 1983.
Since 2005 he has been an instructor at Enmei Dojo and teaches morning classes from 8:30-10:30 Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. These morning aikibudo classes emphasize use of traditional and some modern weapons, atemi (strikes and kicks), and many of the samurai Daito aikijujutsu and Oshiki-uchi waza (techniques), as well as modern aikido waza.
